A question was posed to me about Christianity not too long ago that is a common misconception among many non-Believers.
The questioner stated that Christianity was just a way to keep people under control by asking,
“What if there were two people that lived identical lifestyles?
They did the exact same thing and even went to church on Sundays and ate the same food and married identical women.
Why would the one who accepted Jesus go to Heaven and the other one wouldn’t?”
The irony of that question was that the answer was in it, but unclear. When one accepts Jesus into their souls to actually dwell and live and breathe within them, they are not accepting some doormat God who acts only when He is called. They are accepting a cleansing of unimaginable category. When Jesus comes to dwell within you, He literally dwells within you. He purges the soul from all the wickedness and stops the sin at the root. He dives into the core of you and destroys that which makes you unworthy to worship Him in all His LORDSHIP. It is consistently taught in the Scriptures that He is actually in your soul, and you, as a believer, are a vessel to carry Christ the King.
Our Lord says in Leviticus 26:12 and in 2 Corinthians 6:16 that He will “dwell in them, and walk in them.”
He makes it clear that He will abide in you and live and breathe and speak in you.
He says it in Jon 14:20, John 15:4 and 5, Romans 8:10, 2 Corinthians 13:5, Galatians 2:20. God wants us to know that because we are His children, we are also a part of Him and He is indeed a part of us. That is a perfect reason for us to go out and do as He did and also as He commanded. We get accepted into Heaven because of our love for our King. We will dwell in Heaven with God because…
God dwells in our souls on this earth.
For those who reject the Kingdom here, they will be rejected from the Kingdom to come. It is up to us who have been entrusted with the precious gift of the Gospel to show the Way, the Truth, and the Life to those who we surround ourselves with. It is up to us to help vindicate them from their fleshly prison that they have entrapped themselves in by their human desires. One day, we will all be singing “Here is our King, and here is our Love…” in the presence of our Savior.
But we will have many friends, loved ones, and even people who we see in our day to day lives who will not be singing that and wishing they would have taken the gift that Christ so eagerly held in front of them.
Jesus tells us to “go out into the entire world and preach the gospel to every living creature.” He also says “if you love me, then follow my commandments.” We owe it to Jesus to dedicate our entire lives to His cause because it is exactly what He did. As cliché as it has become, “Christ died for me; I will live for Him.” |
